Victory 03:25
I can't speak so I cannot lie, without words my soul is tongue-tied Finally I will speak my mind, just to see if I can I can't read and I cannot write, ink and paper by my bedside Dust it off, again I'll try, just to see if I can If this is victory then why am I on my knees And if it's tragedy then where is all the laughter I can't sleep so I won't even try, instead I'll drive without the headlights With only the moonlight to guide me, just to see if I can The space I want, the space I need, independence how it captures me You do you and I'll do me, just to see if I can If this is victory then why don't I feel free And if it's tragedy then bring back all the laughter Who knew that victory could taste so bittersweet But if it's what I need then give me one more opportunity Just to see if I can

Signs 04:51
See the signs, feel your breath on my neck, in your eyes Live a lie, I know we're better off when you're inside With words I've tried to help you understand my mind...time's flying by Check the time spent all day searching for a friend of mine Drive all night the engine gives me courage to walk the line Memories make lonely friends, I’m falling behind Too late to try I've wasted breath on these long good-byes I'm beside myself so I see how you see my life...You tell me, 'It's alright'

Travel down highways replacing the tracks I just left These people and memories everything begins to fade Monday to Sunday these routines are tried and true I’ve been here, I’ve done this, it all feels like deja vu This day’s a blessing and I let it go I made excuses for today and wished for tomorrow My apathy for today paired with my lack of concern I don’t always act this way I need to make a U-turn Monday to Sunday these routines are tried and true I’ve been here, I’ve done this, it all feels like deja vu I wished for tomorrow...

The blood on my hands, the blood on my hands It takes a bigger man than I The weight on my shoulder, the weight on my back I've been known to fold or crack Under pressure, I am bending Under pressure, I am broken Under pressure, we are bending Under pressure, we are broken We made our own beds, we stand in our graves Who knew that we were all the same A winter to sleep through, the summer won't stay The seasons move but times don't change This time, it's time to come clean This time you'll know what I mean when I say It's proof I'm alive when I bleed
5.
To You 04:58
I remember when I would trace those lines Back and forth with my simple mind Black has turned into red letter Outstretched arms, I can’t forget it I’ve spent my whole life believing in a saviour I can’t reach Following a leader I cannot see I catch myself wishing for simpler times Cuz I’ve lost my life, it isn’t mine I’d imagine the way you stared at me Bled and scarred, weak at the knees Mountains fall and the oceans weep But I’ve found my home beneath your feet If this was about my god, now it’s not I regret ever building this box for you If this was about myself, I give it away now

about

I wanted to name this album Journeys almost right from the beginning...Before we chose locations. Before we started recording. Before we even knew what songs would be on it, I had a title. I knew a project like this would, by its nature, take us on a path to different locations. We’d meet new people and overcome some challenges. Hence, “Journeys”. What I didn’t realize was how true the title would become.

We set out to record a live EP, shot in 5 very different places,
each with different audio/video set-ups. The goal: to capture
what it would be like to hear Brent and I play live. For real. No
tricks. No funky stuff....Our instruments, some mics, a camera
and us...As the project evolved through the winter/spring of ’16, we struggled. I hate to call them “road blocks” because they didn’t stop us, but “speed bumps” I guess. We hit some speed bumps. A lot of speed bumps. It wasn’t that we bit off more than we could chew because, when we got down to it, the sessions were fun, energizing and enjoyable. But life happened. Tech issues. Time constraints. Flat tires. And this is where Journeys became real.

To me, this recording process emphasized that life isn’t about arriving at a specific destination...It’s about how you get there. Who you meet. Who you love. Who loves you back. This is what’s important. Life is about the journey, and so is this album.

I really hope you enjoy the record. Of the 5 songs, 4 are new, 1 is a reworked version of a B&N “classic” (if we have such a thing at this point in our career). Brent even played a baby grand piano! I’ll send a big man-hug to Guich who did all of the filming and editing of both videos. He put in MUCH more work than simply producing the 2 videos. Check out his YouTube channel “Jeffery Guichelaar” and enjoy his blogging and music.

Despite the obstacles, we’ve had a blast the last few months. And I do believe the album captures us live very well. For better or worse. Putting out a live record is probably not a conventional move for a band like us, but honestly, I don’t care. I love that our band can take on this project and anything else we decide to do, too.

Thanks for riding with us. Enjoy the tunes. And enjoy the journey.
